Reflect of Reading Habits
In this second blog post I reflect on Reading Habits.
After looked at several images related to Reading Habits I can say that Reading Habits have changed along the years due to several reasons, such us the use of new technologies, the incoming of new entertaining activities (TV, computers...), stressful lives...
Now, I will answer to different questions in relation to the images mentioned beforehand.
What kind of books or texts are the people reading? Did they chose the books themselves or did someone else choose for them?
In most of the photos people are reading books, in paper format. We could say the majority of them have chosen their books by themselves, except for the children whose books probably have been chosen by their teacher, although maybe they have taken part in the previous selection.
Describe how they might be feeling at the moment and give reasons.
In the first image people might be feeling very relaxing and in the mood of reading, because that is the perfecte place to do it, a library.
The second photo is charming, I think the child might be very interested in the contents of the book, that could be the reason his grandmother is looking at the book as well.
In the third one, the woman probably feels that she is adapting to the new reading formats.
In the photo number four, children looks like very focused on reading, so it may be an interesting book for them.
Finally, in the last photo, tha man seems to be focused reading the news.
Focus on one or two of the photos and say how they relate to your own experience as a reader in L1 (Spanish) and L2 (English or another foreign language). Think about the following things:
- What texts do you enjoy reading in each language that you speak?
When I read in my L1 (Spanish) I enjoyed novels. On another note, I use to read texts in L2 (English) in a formative way: educational articles, song lyrics, movies subtittles, text books to learn English, magazines, tales that I use with my students...
- Do you choose the same kind of texts or do you read very different things depending on the language? What factors determine your choice?
As I said beforehand I usually choose different kind of texts depending on the language. The most important factors which determine my choice are that I read in L1 for enjoying and in L2 as a formative way.
- In what format do you read (paper, e-reader, online etc.)?
I prefer read in paper format, but actually I read in digital format most of the time.
- When do you read?
I like to read in my free time and sometimes, I like to read a chapter before starting to work at home. I mean, when I sit down in my desk, ready to plan the week or to do school tasks I like to open my book, read a chapter and, after that, start working.

Getting started with Blogger
My name is Mary, I am English teacher (I also teach Maths and Spanish) in Primary Education, in Spain.
This blog is a place where I'm going to share the different tasks proposed by the Course "INNOVATIVE TEACHING PRACTICES SUPPORTED BY THE FOCUSED USE OF ICT TOOLS IN THE LANGUAGE CLASSROOM" that I have already joined to improve my learning as well as my teaching experience.
I will focus on Primary Education and Kindergarden as I work as a teacher with students of these levels.
Foro Interaction
Looking at my partner's blogs, I found a very attractive idea for my students in the Sixth Grade such as "Interactive Picture"...
